Jairo, if I were you, I would cancel right away and sign up with another company that will give you a free trial so you can cancel if you have any trouble.

The best place for domain names and hosting in my opinion is DreamHost. They seem to be the most popular & the safest. And they have 24 hour customer service via email, instant chat, or over the phone. So I would try that out, or another similar company who offers the same benefits and a free trial.

Linux hosting – Cheaper, faster, if you have shell access you often have an array of already installed tools that can be extremely handy. Even if your chrooted all you need to know is the distro and version and you can install what you need. More secure and more flexible.

Windows hosting – You can run .asp on Linux hosting but if you’ve got a ton of Microsoft specific dependencies sometimes it’s just easier to use Windows hosting. This is generally only true if your leveraging APIs. Generally not the way to go as using those APIs create massive security risks and have to be rewritten nearly every new version of the software you are leveraging. You can do some VB and similar languages on Windows hosting to an extent but they’ll by necessity have things locked down to the point where your code just plain may fail. So except under the most extreme circumstances I would recommend Linux hosting.

In simple words:

Linux server: You cannot host files like ASP, asp.net, MS SQL databases etc.
Windows: You can host files like ASP, asp.net, MS SQL databases etc.

Linux hosting is cheaper than Windows hosting. Linux supports quite a few software, programs, ‘languages’, and databases for instance PHP, Perl, PostGre, MySQL, PostgreSQL and even more that make it very scalable and crash less frequently.

Windows Hosting is suitable if you support for Microsof technologies if you work with Access, ASP, MS SQL, or perhaps VB development tools and the like.

linux hosting is more common than windows. however if your website is coded in asp, .net, you need to choose windows hosting.
